Chestnuts Producing Director

Long time Theatre West Member Charlie Mount created the created the Chestnuts Theatre program in 2005 and has produced seven Chestnuts shows now, directing the last four. Chestntus Shows include Requiem for a Heavyweight (2005), The Lion in Winter (2006), Dancing at Lughnasa (2007), Waiting in the Wings (with Betty Garrett) (2008), Gaslight (2009), Waiting for Lefty (2010), and Seascape (2011).

At Theatre West Charlie has also directed the world premier of Acting - The First Six Lessons, with Beau and Emily Bridges.  Other producing credits at Theatre West include Falling Upward (in Association with Ray Bradbury’s Pandemonium Theatre Company), and The Socialization of Ruthie Shapiro.

As a playwright Charlie has had several of his plays produced, including Trumpets and Table-Tipping (Theatre 40), The Junto (The Road), The Indecent Act of Jeff Zelinski (Theatre Geo), and The Shift (Theatre West).

Charlie came to LA from NY after a long career as a comic and magician, performing in nightclubs all over the world and making many television appearances, including a guest shot on Magic’s Greatest Illusions where he recreated Houdini’s famous East Indian Needle Mystery.

Charlie also works on the satellite arts program Classic Arts Showcase, a free program seen in over 60 million homes.
